Barloworld Team for 2009

Even though the team is based in Italy and has its PR office in South Africa it is registered as a UK team. Quite how the UCI controls these “flags of convenience” arrangements (if at all) is a mystery to me. But it is common practice. However Barloworld does have one claim through its three solid riders - Steve Cummings, Chris Froome and Geraint Thomas (or Thomas Geraint according to the UCI web site - tell’em to fix it, Geraint!)
And the team has started off well with a third place for Robert Hunter in the GP Costa degli Etruschi last Saturday. But according to their outline schedule there are no British races planned - this may change once the Tour of Britain teams get resolved more...
UCI Registered UK Teams

At the UCI Continental Team level there are 5 UK teams registered for the coming season - CANDI TV - PINARELLO RT, ENDURA RACING, PLOWMAN CRAVEN - MADISON, RAPHA CONDOR and TEAM HALFORDS. And just Barloworld at the next higher division - Pro Continental. I don’t have any details yet for Endura or Team Halfords but the rest have links above.
