Olympic Preparations Help Boost Numbers

The track calendar for 2007-8 looks healthy. First there was a record entry in Sydney for the UCI World Cup meeting. BikeRadar reported that 15 reigning world champions and 395 competitors were expected - claiming the biggest ever field for an international track meeting.

In the New Year attention switches to Los Angeles for the third round of the series and renewed efforts to qualify for the Olympics. Meanwhile the European 6 Day circuit continues along with its own timetable - however the cancellation of the Maastricht 6-Day may indicate that the problems of pro road racing are now impacting track sponsorship.
